Here are the other bands I’ve had the chance to see live in my past:

My first concert is rather embarrassing.  While in high school (probably 9th grade), I won tickets to see Tina Turner.  I only bothered trying to win them because Level 42 was opening for her, which was a band I kind of liked at the time.  I went with my younger brother who could care less about either performer but who was nice enough to tag along (I think he secretly wanted to go to any concert at the time).  Anyhow, there we were, a couple of kids surrounded by a bunch of “old” people, probably around our mother’s age at the time.  It was pretty funny.  Level 42 was good but Tina Turner was actually quite good, to my surprise at the time.

I saw The Church in Dallas during my senior year I believe.  I also got to see them after college in D.C. up close since they performed at a lunch time concert in a park across from where I worked downtown.  That was cool because I even got to meet the band after the performance.

I saw New Order during college, but when I was home one summer in Dallas.   The Throwing Muses opened, which I thought was cool, but sadly very few of the attendees seemed to know who they were or cared.  Too bad.

I saw Oingo Boingo while in college.  They were amazing.  I was right up front for that show sweating it out in a huge crowd.  Fun time.

I also saw REM while in college.  That show was amazing.

I saw Morrissey after college in SLC.  That was a great show, but dissappointing as they barely played an hour and a half and then called it good without an encore.

I saw The Specials a while after college in SLC.  That was a super fun show.  So glad I got to see this band live.

I saw Johnny Marr from the Smiths in Seattle.  Very good show.  Palo Alto actually opened for them and they were quite amazing.  I became a fan after that show.

I saw Catherine Wheel in Seattle.  It was actually just the lead singer doing an acoustic show, but he sounded great and it was cool to finally see him live.

I saw the Ministry in Seattle.  Very cool show.   Had always wanted to see them live.

I saw Zwan in Seattle.  Billy Corgan really made this band sound great.

I saw Earth, Wind, and Fire at a Microsoft morale event.  I don’t think I would have ever seen them on my own, so this was pretty cool.  Most of us recognize many of their songs even if we didn’t know they were all from this band.  Fun show!

I saw Toad the Wet Sprocket at a Microsoft sponsored event during the summer.  Very cool.

I saw Radiohead at the White River Amphitheater in 2008.  Amazing show on a beautiful August afternoon.
