The Builders and the Butchers

I got to see a local favorite out of Portland, called the Builders and the Butchers this past Friday (19th) at Neumos.  A band called the Globe (from Seattle) was the first on the stage.  They were a young group but very talented.  Next on the bill was a band called Loch Lomond.  This group was also out of Portland and very eclectic, but in a good way.  The crowd was well warmed up by the time the headliner came on stage and I think everyone had a great time.  The band even handed out instruments as eclectic as the band (mostly all kinds of rattles, but drums as well) to much of the crowd to aid in the audience participation.  I got hold of a drum and, being a drummer myself, I thought I did a decent job of playing with the band.  I first saw this band in last year’s capitol hill block party and knew that it was a good idea to see them again.  They were releasing a new album and their new songs didn’t disappoint.
