Concert: Billy Corgan

I attended the Billy Corgan concert on the Monday, July the 18th and had a good time.  The show was held at the Moore Theatre in Seattle (not the greatest venue, but what can you do?).  The show was most impressive because of the effects they used.  They had a huge white grid wall behind them that was apparently made of lights on which they generated what appeared to be block graphic displays like we saw in the early days of the computer.  The display would generate all kinds of patterns, colors, and images in sync with the music.  It was quite cool and went perfectly with Billy’s new sleek, modern band instruments.  The band consisted of a male drummer who stood up because he was playing an electric drum kit that required no stool or bass drum on the floor, a male keyboardist who had a fancy display screen for cueing up tracks, and a female keyboardist/vocalist who occassionally stepped out from behind her keyboard.  The feel of the music was very electronic with the exception of Billy’s unmistakable guitar.  Even his guitars however were very modern and obviously custom made.  He put on a fairly straightforward show but made sure to come out for an encore performance during which he played his recent hit "Walking Shade".  He even knew that he only delivered a mediocre performance and apologized for it after the encore but promised to do much better the next time.  The crowd didn’t seem to notice too much as they were all very impressed with his performance.  I’ve included the best pic I could get of the show from my vantage point in the balcony.  Well I didn’t get a great seat at this show because I only decided to attend the day of. 😦  I thought about getting tickets earlier but didn’t know what I thought about going to a concert on a Monday.  I’m glad I went, but I was tired the next day as I feared.
